For years, Vietnam Veterans have claimed that their exposure to Agent Orange has
resulted in illness and death. The United States government and the Veterans Administration has consistently taken
the position that adequate information does not exist to demonstrate a relationship with Vietnam service,
Agent Orange exposure and any illness or disease.
During the last ten years, as the claims of Vietnam Veterans increased, the government has commissioned more
and more studies, each claiming to disprove the existence of any relationship between Agent Orange exposure
and illness or disease. Without exception, every government study or survey has been skewed or biased.
Examples of government bias include exclusion of any ground troops in the famous Ranch Hand I and Ranch
Hand II studies; the exclusion of all females who served in Vietnam in a birth defects study, concentrating only
on the wives of Vietnam Vets, without regard to the veterans' high divorce rate; the mixing of troops together
without any distinction between ground combat troops and Saigon stationed clerks who had no Agent Orange
exposure, or the exclusion of all mortality studies of Vietnam Veterans who died of traumatic injuries or suicide,
thereby failing to study vets who committed suicide rather than endure the pains of cancers which may have been
caused by Agent Orange.
Recently, the VA has changed its strategy, and now claims it will provide care and compensation to about 1100
Vietnam Vets or their families. While this is great, it fails to address the real issue which still confronts the
almost 2.9 million other veterans.
In the past, the VA has used studies to disprove any ill effects of Agent Orange. Now, Vietnam Veterans of Florida,
State Coalition, through its Committee on Agent Orange, is conducting a state-wide survey of Vietnam Veterans
in an attempt to get the true facts. The time for lip service is over. If we are ever to resolve the plague of Agent
Orange, we must have the facts, and only you, the Vet can give it to us. Help us. Spend the time needed to fill
out the survey and return it to us through this media: Most of the work has been done to help it to be easier to
fill this survey out. Now its up to you.
